Frequently Asked Questions
How long will it take to receive my order?
Orders ship within 24 hours (unless noted on the product information page, weekends & holidays excluded). If for some reason we can't ship your order in 24 hours you will be notified. Once an order is shipped it will usually arrive within 2-4 business days, you have the option to select overnight, 2nd day, etc. at checkout. I'm having a problem setting up my surveillance system, how do I get support?
Please start by emailing us at techsupport@sunsecurity.com. We will try to answer your question via email, if necessary we will call you to walk you through setup or resolve any problems you may be having.
Do you provide installation?
Currently the customer is responsible for installing their purchases. We are however putting together a network of installers and will be rolling out an installation program in the near future.
Can I get longer cables than those included in the kits?
Yes we can get you longer cables if necessary, please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Do I need a power outlet near my camera for the power supply?
Not if you use a siamese cable. Siamese cables (which are included with all our kits) carry both power and video, so you can plug in the power supply at the same location you have your computer or stand alone DVR. Wireless cameras and cameras that don't use siamese cables will require you have a power source nearby.
What operating system do I need to use your DVR PCI cards?
Our cards currently work with Windows XP and Windows Vista (32 bit).
What is the difference between a hardware compression DVR card and a software compression DVR card?
Software compression card uses the computer's CPU to compress the video, whereas a hardware compression card contains the hardware on the card itself to compress the video. Hardware compression cards will thus allow you to use less of your computer's resources and extend the computer's life. They are recommended if they fit into your budget.
How do I use dynamic DNS with my DVR Card if I don't have a static IP address for remote view?
Some cards support dynamic DNS directly in the software, others would require you to download a client that will update your IP address with your dynamic DNS provider. We recommend DynDNS, they are a free service and provide a client that will update your ip address with them. Once you sign up for an account, either use the DVR software directly or download the client from the site and install. Then you would use the domain provided by DynDNS to remotely view your cameras, rather than a static ip address.
